UNGDOMSROMMET
In the spring of 2023, Bardo Running Club carried out its very first fundraising campaign - a starting point for what would become a movement of purpose, community, and long-term ambition. The project focused on upgrading the youth room at Radiumhospitalet, a vital space for young cancer patients undergoing treatment. More than just a room, it served as a temporary escape from the routines of chemotherapy - a place for quiet, for play, and for shared moments between treatments.
The initiative was led by Bernardo’s closest friends, in collaboration with Barnekreftforeningen and The Bardo Foundation, and rooted in the belief that every child in treatment deserves dignity, comfort, and connection. It was a campaign built on loss, but driven by hope - and it marked the beginning of Bardo Running Club’s mission to create real change, one step at a time.. The project was initiated by Bernardo’s closest friends, in collaboration with Barnekreftforeningen and The Bardo Foundation, with the goal of creating a more dignified, social, and human space for rest, play, and connection - in the midst of a daily life marked by chemotherapy and silence.
It all began with a simple idea: to run Holmenkollstafetten in Bernardo’s honor. One idea became fifteen runners. Fifteen runners became a purpose-driven movement - and a campaign that brought hundreds of supporters together. Friends who trained together, showed up when it mattered, and ran for something greater than themselves.
The room was furnished with brand-new pieces, generously donated by Bohus, and assembled by the team themselves. The result wasn’t just a physical space - it became a tangible reminder of what young people can create when friendship, loss, and determination are set in motion.
