What Moves Us
Bardo Running Club is a youth led initiative born in memory, driven by purpose, and built to last.
We were founded in 2023, in memory of our friend Bernardo "Bardo" Eggesbø, who passed away from osteosarcoma in 2021, just short of 17 years old. He left us at an age where everything still feels possible, when you're convinced you're untouchable - caught between celebration and ambition, high school graduation and life’s first real decisions. In that moment of freedom and potential, his absence hit differently. So we laced up and ran - not just for him, but for the hope that no one else would have to.
What began as a simple tribute - a single relay team running in his honor during our graduation spring - has since evolved into a growing, youth-powered force for change.
Today, Bardo Running Club (BRC) brings together over 80 young people who train, compete, create, and mobilize to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer. Through bold campaigns, structured teamwork, and a longterm mindset, we are proving that serious impact doesn't have to come in a suit and tie.
We run to remember - and to move things forward. Also because someone needs to prove that running in circles can, in fact, lead somewhere.
HOW IT STARTED
In our final year of high school, between exams, celebrations, and the sense of limitless opportunity, we participated in Holmenkollstafetten with 15 runners and a cause. We raised over NOK 200,000 for the youth room at the new renovated Radiumhospitalet, creating a social space for young cancer patients receiving treatment - a small but tangible way to honor the memory of our friend while supporting others walking a similar path.
That first campaign taught us something important: when personal loss meets purpose, people move.
WHAT WE DO
Our club runs, organizes, and activates around specific missions linked to childhood cancer. In 2025, we supported a groundbreaking osteosarcoma research project at Oslo University Hospital. The goal: to analyze data from over 100 patients to uncover treatment-response patterns - a step toward earlier interventions, fewer side effects, and better outcomes for children diagnosed with this rare and aggressive cancer.
Our campaigns combine physical endurance with storytelling, community building, and real financial impact. From Holmenkollstafetten and golf tournaments to ultramarathons, mountain runs, marathons, 10Ks, and everything in between - including coffee runs that somehow turn into TED Talks - we keep finding new ways to move, connect, and create impact. Our model is dynamic, adaptable, and growing.
In just two years, we’ve raised over NOK 500,000. The momentum is real - and the mission is just beginning.
WHO WE ARE
We’re runners, thinkers, builders - and above all, friends. We’re motivated and driven because we believe this is the right way to honour Bernardo.
We believe in youth leadership. In transparent fundraising. In setting bold goals - and chasing them with discipline and style. We move fast, but not carelessly. We care about clarity, consistency, and making things count. And we wear our cause on our backs, literally.
We believe in showing up - again and again. Through rain, setbacks, exams, and exhaustion. Whether we’re racing or recovering, we keep showing up. Because consistency builds trust - and impact.
WHY WE MOVE
Because childhood cancer research is underfunded.
Because treatments haven’t improved in decades.
Because 1 in 3 children with osteosarcoma still don’t survive.
Because when someone you love fights for their life, it changes what you fight for too.
Bardo Running Club is our answer to that fight. A way to carry memory forward, while doing something that matters.
Not someday. Now.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Support our current campaign, follow our journey, or get in touch if you want to collaborate. We’re always looking to connect with those who believe that movement can create meaning - and that youth can lead the way.
We run for better answers. We run because standing still was never an option.
Because of Bernardo
